This guide will help you to understand the most popular styles for weddings and how to achieve the right wedding day look for you..

White Tie Weddings

Tails Coat - White tie attire is the most formal dress code and is typically interpreted as floor-length gowns for women and a black jacket with tails and matching pants for men, paired with a white Marcela Bow, Marcela Wing Collar Shirt and a Cummerbund or white Marcela Waistcoat. Uncommon for modern weddings, white tie attire has been around for centuries and is now usually reserved for at dignitary balls.

White tie attire evolved in the 19th century and began to wane after World War I as men opted for the less formal look of the Black Tie dress code.

Black Tie Weddings

Dinner Suit or Tuxedo - Black tie is the most formal dress code after white tie and is extremely popular weddings and special events. It’s a timeless look that never dates and one only has to look to Hollywood for inspirations in movies such the Bond series over the generations and the numerous awards ceremonies throughout the year.

A black tie theme requires men to wear a Dinner Suit also known as Tuxedo Suit in North America. A dinner suit is traditionally black with silk accents on the lapels, buttons and pocket trim worn with an evening shirt and black silk bow tie. An alternative classic to this is a cream jacket worn over black trousers. Over the years contemporary dinner suits have introduced alternative colours and textured fabrics such as velvets and jacquards.

Beach Casual Weddings

Summer Smart Casual - Heading to the beach for your wedding requires a smart casual look that evokes a more relaxed feel to the overall occasion. This look is particularly popular for destination weddings. Less structured suiting with light weight fabrics such as linen and cotton, extra fine wool and seersucker. Tailored cropped pants and a softly constructed shirt helps achieve a perfect beach wedding look.

Accessories: Casual lace-up or Loafers, belt, pocket square, braces or waistcoat.

Colors: Neutrals such as beige, tan, stone, white and Ivory.  For a splash of color pastels in blues, pinks and greens are also used and often with a contrasting trouser color.

Formal Weddings

Formal Dress Code - Equally as popular as Black Tie Weddings, the Formal Theme can incorporate a dinner suit although a well tailored 3 piece lounge suit with a dress shirt and tie is also a popular choice.

A classic never goes out of fashion. A well-crafted suit crafted from 100% Australian Merino wool is sophisticated, timeless and versatile, regardless of the formality or style of the event. The key to nailing a traditional wedding lies in the details and fit

Rustic Weddings

Rustic weddings are usually held at a Winery, or an old Estate. Country weddings also work well embracing this rustic theme.

Textured fabrics such as wool blends, like linens, cotton and or tweeds work best for this popular theme. Well-tailored chinos or wool trousers, crisp cotton or linen shit, the options are basically endless for this theme. The time of year does not hinder or matter if you choose this theme for your event.

Winter weddings are becoming more and more popular, so flannel and tweeds are a go to for this time of year. It allows anyone having a rustic themed event to be very creative with their outfit.
